You know, I actually wish schools & universities had courses on how to save cash as a young adult! There are multiple mistakes I made in my early twenties that I wish I hadn’t made, & so multiple steps that I could’ve taken to ensure I was building a real savings for myself! I shouldn’t have went out to eat so often, nor should I have went out drinking with my friends every night in school! There was a single month where I had to live off a pack of ramen – that’s how incredibly poor I was from going & drinking all of my cash! Now as a married man & a father, I don’t have the time to go out drinking with buddies, or head out to supper five nights a week. The cash I’m saving from skipping those activities is helping, despite the fact that I have to be leaner! This week, I started teaching myself some energy-saving tips & techniques to keep my power costs low. I only use the light while I’m in a room, rather than leaving lights on all over the household. I also have my household’s central air conditioning device set to “fan”, so now it’s not using a ton of energy to circulate cooling air! All it does now it circulate air without treating it, which saves a great deal of cash on my utility bills. Things are going especially well now, however when the Winter time arrives, it will be more difficult to keep my spending down. I’m thinking about investing in radiant floor heating ahead of time though, as this heating device is easy to install & incredibly cost-efficient! Comprised of pipes that carry tepid water through a heat-conducting material, radiant floors labor similar to how a radiator would, & disperses heat much more evenly than a radiator could! Radiant floors are absolutely beautiful, & they’re not even that costly to have installed. Like the saying goes, you sometimes have to spend cash to save cash.
