When our wife had this fireplace added on to the construction of our house, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical. A wood burning fireplace I understood–you can cook on it & heat with it should the worse happen & you lose power while in a serious Winter time storm. But what on earth was the point of a gas powered fireplace? Weren’t she & I already going to be paying for oil? She assured me that she had had the full discussion with our construction corporation & the local heating & cooling dealer. They explained to her how much money she would save off the cost of our cabin heating bill, & how easy & efficient it would be to maintain. When the cabin was finished, I will have to admit that it did look unquestionably nice. It looks appreciate a real fireplace, however the glass is a plate that can be slid out for cleaning. There no doors that need to be opened to feed the fire. All you do is flick a switch by the hearth, & the pilot light & gas Springtime a real fire to life. I can curl up & study with the cat while our wife watches a show, & no 1 has to get up to tend to the fire. Best of all, the two of us can turn on the fireplace after the sunlight goes down, rather than turn up the central oil heating system to fend off the fast dropping hot & cold temperatures. Sure enough, our wife was right. The two of us can go a lot longer before the two of us have to fill up the tank for the oil gas furnace thanks to gas fireplace than the two of us were in the outdated cabin without.
