The scents of my air filter

The scents of my air filter

My roommate Ashley is obsessed with the smell of lavender, everything in our beach house has to have the scent of lavender, so our dish soap, detergent, and candles all are the scent of lavender. She claims it is the best of the smells and she appreciates it. I sort of don’t care for lavender. I especially don’t care for it after Ashley obtained scented air filters for our cooling system. She found that air conditioning filters can be made with scents, then as the cooling system works and the air runs through it, it can go over lavender scented coils. My roommate was so excited for our whole beach house to reek of lavender. She ended up being super disappointed, lavender scented air conditioning filters sounds like a superb idea, however it undoubtedly is horrible. A HVAC filter is made to catch the dust from going into the oil furnace or AC system. The filter then gathers the dust until you change it. The filter smelled like a nice flower for about 1 week then, now that there is dust in the filter, Ashley and I can smell it. Our whole site smells like old, wet lavender now. I want to rip out the lavender filter and get an actual cooling filter with no scent. Ashley seems to suggest that both of us should update the air filters on a weekly basis. She claims the air quality would be cleaner, the HVAC would run better and both of us could keep the lavender smell. I am not willing to front the money for this though.
