A couple years ago, we had a hurricane go through our area. We have hurricanes seldom and no one can ever really be prepared for the devastation, regardless of what category it is in. We had the heavy winds and a lot of rain. It came far enough inland that everyone was surprised when we got all of the winds. The storm even spawned a couple tornadoes and one went right past our home. My husband was in total shock. We live on top of a mountain and yet a tornado came right up between the mountains and took out half of our orchard. It also took out our electricity. This was really tough for us. We have a well and without electricity, we don’t have water. Without electricity, we didn’t have air conditioning. After the storm, the humidity was so high that I was unable to breathe. I have asthma and I need to have the air conditioning if I am going to continue breathing. My husband quickly got the generator running, but it can only run so long without fuel. We drove to the gas station, hoping to get some fuel for the generator, so we could run the air conditioning. The gas station was also being affected by power outage. I got to sit in the car, with the air conditioning, while we went twenty miles out of town to find a gas station. We were able to get the fuel for the generator and go home to get our air conditioning running, and me out of the car.
