Saving cash has become truly important to my family, now that my hubby has retired from work. He tells me and our kids that we shouldn’t worry so much, but that is difficult to do. I remember what happened my aunt was forced to retire because of her age. At first she thought that everything was going to be okay plus she tried to convince the entire family that she was fine, too. But I wasn’t actually fooled by Aunt Jenny. She was my favorite aunt plus I made sure to visit her every afternoon, on my way back from school. One afternoon, it was so frosty cold in her loft that I couldn’t take my coat off. She sat in her rocking chair, offering me a cup of boiling hot tea, but refusing to even move since she was warm there underneath her afghan. I asked her why it was so frosty plus she smiled plus and just said she was saving cash. When she finally got up to go and make my tea, I looked at her thermostat control unit. She had the control unit turned down to fifty-five, and I knew this could cause her to suffer because she had dire arthritis in both her hands. And so I turned up the control unit, then I instantly heard the gas furnace running. My turning up the thermostat control unit had never bothered her before, even though she asked me to please make sure I turned the control unit back down before I left. I agreed to do so, but I was hoping she wouldn’t say anything when I was leaving her house. She looked grateful for the heating, even though she was kind of fearful of paying for the energy she used with the heater running. I knew I had to say something to my dad whenever I got home.
